Artistic Endeavors
![]()
Here's some artwork of mine. Some of it is a few years old, and some is more recent, so until I figure out a better way to organize them, the quality is going to vary, but almost all of them are dated so you'll be able to see which are the old ones. Links that say NEW next to them mean they have recently been added to this page, but not necessarily that it is a new picture. I've been drawing ever since I could hold a crayon, so I have a ton of work, and I add things as I come across them.
I think it should go without saying that none of my work may be copied, altered, redistributed, reproduced, or used in any way whatsoever without my permission. I hold the copyright to my images, and some here that I've done on commission may also have other copyright holders as well. If you want to use my work, contact me for permission.
In the meantime, feel free to browse and tell me what you think!
Dragons
Various dragons and similar things, waiting for a better category.Cavanoskus This is a drawing of my character Cavanoskus Aethertaangoth, black dragoness of Gavengaard.
Zayax Highlord Zayax, the powerful and vicious king of Gavengaard.
Dragonwar I did this in like 7th grade. It's a silver scratchboard drawing of many dragons fighting in mid-flight. When it scanned, the silver came out as an interesting variety of greens and blues.
China, the Boxer I drew this as part of a suggested ad campaign for local boxer China, whose mascot is the dragon. It was required to still look like him facially.
Handaxe Dragon A dragon I drew in ball-point pen to adorn the cover of my math binder. He bears an axe and the best pants-bulge I've ever drawn.
Demon Sword A gross, demon-looking guy holding a flaming sword. I drew him in ball-point pen as a decoration for my history binder.
The Cliff NEW Combat going terribly wrong.
Mango Dragon NEW Drawn when I was younger for the cover of international magazine Tropical Fruit News.
Tattoo Trio NEW Three little dragons I drew on commission for a small tattoo. My client ended up choosing the first dragon's body with the second dragon's head.
Dragons of the Draig Universe
Draig's story and world will be revealed in the future through some comics I've been working on.Draig A portrait of my dragon character and "mascot", Draig Maughrim. A gruff fellow who just wants to be left alone in his run-down tower, he is forced to uncover the bloody, mysterious history of his ancestors.
Draig on the Hunt Draig out on the prowl with his weapon of choice, a naginata.
Draig Crouching A cartoon of Draig preparing to spring.
Draig Pouncing Pouncing Draig, the sequel to the previous picture.
Bonfire Dance Draig dancing in firelight. I was experimenting with lighting him from below.
Firebreathing Draig breathing a blast of fire.
Force Concussion Draig using one of his lesser-known powers.
Laughing Draig Draig having an insanely humorous moment.
Red Hand Draig, with evidence that his right hand has recently been where it shouldn't.
Draig Shadowportrait A light and shadow experimentation on Draig's face.
Draig Looking Sneaky Draig giving a sneaky glance over his shoulder.
Trenchcoat A cartoon of Draig wearing a trenchcoat and holding a microphone...I don't know why. He's a rock star, I guess. Whatever. I want those boots, though.
Taste of Blood Draig licking blood off his hand. This is one of my favorite pictures of him.
Dromilariad Dromilariad is a powerful mage who is continually seeking to expand his power and influence.
Azelstrad He's a swamp-dwelling dragon, and a highly respected warrior of his tribe. He sometimes works as a mercenary assassin.
Stophyx Lord of the swamp, Stophyx currently has Azelstrad in his employment.
Zarot Former Grand Archmage, Zarot was betrayed and deposed by his former student, Dromilariad.
Jararaca Warrior king of his flatland tribe, Jararaca continually forces war with Stophyx for control of the marshes.
Arlan Maughrim One of Draig's more mysterious ancestors, Arlan the Traveler left behind legends of explorations throughout the world, and even rumors of other worlds, but no personal information on Arlan survives, not even his or her gender.
Vorkadd Maughrim One of the most ancient members of the Maughrim clan in recorded history, Vorkadd was a vicious ravager who inspired many horrific legends and monster tales still told to this day.
Carnagaddon Maughrim A terrifying warlord and brilliant, unstoppable leader who conquered almost the entire known world in a matter of years, and would likely have continued if a sudden, mysterious illness hadn't finally killed him.
Dragons From an Unnamed Series
These are dragons I drew throughout middle school and high school to illustrate dragon characters from a story I was writing, which today I am revamping into something that I hope will turn out to be a good piece of fiction. I'll also be redrawing the dragons, but here are the original versions from when I was 13-15 years old. They are in black and white except for the first three, which demonstrate my early attempts at colored pencil.Stormhowl NEW Although drawn first, I originally intended Stormhowl to be later in the series, however now I have opted to place them chronologically (to the best of my memory). Pretty scary way to start things out! I'm not sure why he has a weird eye, but it was deliberate.
Zedran NEW I do wish I hadn't colored these, but I did the lighting pretty well, and my simple rock textures look pretty, well...rocky.
Manhunter NEW I have to forgive myself for my obvious compromise out of not wanting to color the entire sky.
Bloodrender NEW His spikes are removable, and can grow back.
Firebather NEW I don't think he ever wants to have company.
Trislasher NEW I always imagined multiheaded creatures as sharing a single brain. I never liked the idea of two heads arguing with each other, etc. I've heard "he doesn't have legs!" a lot when showing people this picture, as if they believe I forgot to draw them rather than designing him that way. I always want to say, "wow, Sherlock, how long did it take you to figure that out?" but I refrain and just mention that dragons can look however we want them to.
Smokeblazer NEW It's difficult to tell (and finding a good way to make it apparent with dragons can be a challenge), but this is a female.
Gallius NEW His wings are connected to his arms to the point halfway down his forearms. There they can fold backward, leaving his hands free, a bit like a pterosaur.
Ciggrum NEW He's an old, curmudgeonly type. The thumb claws are his primary weapon. This is one that I should have colored, because then you could better see the patterns on his wings. He's brown and green on top and light blue and white underneath, meant to camouflage him as he flies over forest.
Zenzrum NEW The fins along his sides allow him to glide, and he propels himself by undulating his tail.
Larissimar NEW Zenzrum's twin brother.
Whookindreck NEW I remember wanting to make the most evil-looking, insane dragon I could. At the time, he was downright terrifying.
Dreadwing NEW I've had people ask me why one of the stars was in front of the moon. That's because it's snow. They aren't stars. I thought putting one in front of the moon would make it obvious, but apparently not.
Lazre NEW No, it's not pronounced "laser." I made a conscious decision not to cram his whole body into the page, but at some point I may add the missing part of his tail and print him on something. I really like the way he came out. I also really like his wings.
Zalaphar NEW Scary, and vertigo-inducing. I really enjoy drawing the long, sinuous types.
Zimmisck NEW At the time I was drawing him, he seemed rather unremarkable, but once finished I was quite happy with the way he looks, and the way I accomplished his pose.
Mythology
Mythological creatures and other monstrosities that aren't dragons.Manticore A drawing I created as a tattoo design for my friend James. It's not a traditional manticore, but more of a wicked scorpion-centaur thing. I'll soon be adding a picture of the finished tattoo, applied painstakingly to James's chest.
D&D 3rd Edition
Drawings of Dungeons and Dragons characters.Brock This is my Dungeons and Dragons character, Brock. He's a half-orc barbarian with leather armor. Nice guy, though he doesn't really look it.
Brock Mug Shot Two facial views of Brock.
Brock's Adventure Gear Brock from the back and without his cape, showing how his stuff is lashed together.
Brock's Cape Brock wrapped all snug in his cloak.
Brock Again Now he's leaning into the wind, with his cape blowing back. You can see the pockets on his pants and the way his leg armor is strapped on.
Seasons of the Wolf
Seasons of the Wolf is a Tampa Bay area, Florida heavy metal band with a progressive, Gothic sound. I have done various artwork for them in the past, including the werewolf silhouettes on the cover of their fourth album Once in a Blue Moon, and hope to continue to do so.SOTW Concept Art This is a sketch of the five band members. This is preliminary stuff for a comic book and other related artwork I'll be doing for them. After this pic, I changed some of the characters just a bit.
Witchfinder My werewolf characterization of Seasons of the Wolf lead vocalist Wes Waddell.
Skullywolf SOTW's guitarist/background vocalist Barry Waddell.
Doc Dennis Ristow, who plays keyboards and contributes backing vocals to SOTW.
Spiderlegs SOTW's former bass player, Chris Whitford.
Jester SOTW's former drummer, Wayne Hoefle.
The Reaper An EXTREMELY gay-looking villain Barry and I designed to fight the SOTW guys.
Witchfinder Silhouette NEW Silhouette of Wes' werewolf form as shown on the cover of Once in a Blue Moon.
Skullywolf Silhouette NEW Silhouette of Barry's werewolf form as shown on the cover of Once in a Blue Moon.
Logos
Logos I have created on commission for others.New Born Hate NEW Created for a friend's metal band, New Born Hate.
Incandescent Records NEW Created for Florida independent studio Incandescent Records.
Altered Photographs
All chaos I have wrought with Photoshop and other tools.Monsters in the Clouds This was a school project in which I had to alter a photograph to change its atmosphere. The original photo is on the left, my version is on the right.
Black and White Self-Portrait Another school project. In this assignment, I had to take numerous pictures of myself and make a composition using black, white, and different levels of gray in four seperate panels.
An author portrait that died. The picture was one that I took during the aforementioned project. I wrecked it with Photoshop. Kinda like the effect for some reason.
Miscellaneous
Anything that does not fit in the other categories.777 Portrait There is a SnakeNet member who goes by the screen name 777. No one knows what he looks like, so I made him a profile pic. I drew this in about 15 minutes in AppleWorks using only the polygon tool.
That's all for now, but I have a LOT more. Just need to get it scanned and uploaded.
